Envoy’s arrival delayed for a month
The Catholic Press Agency (KTA) of the Bosnia Herzegovina Bishops’ Conference has announced that the anticipated arrival of Msgr Hoser at Medjugorje on February 27 has been rescheduled to March 27. The delay is put down to a misunderstanding by the Warsaw-Prague curia. Archbishop Hoser was, in fact, in Bosnia Herzegovina on Monday, but in Sarajevo and not Medjugorje.
Msgr Hoser’s visit to Sarajevo was the same day bishop Ratko Peric, local ordinary for the Mostar diocese which Medjugorje is part of, issued his press release reiterating his non-belief in the claimed apparitions.
However his statement does not reflect the official position of the Church and the CDF has issued advice previously that the views expressed by the bishop are his own.
What Bishop Peric said in his letter to the Secretary General of “Famille Chretienne”, declaring: “My conviction and my position is not only ‘non constat de supernaturalitate’, but likewise, ‘constat de non supernaturalitate’ of the apparitions or revelations in Medjugorje”, should be considered the expression of the personal conviction of the Bishop of Mostar which he has the right to express as Ordinary of the place, but which is and remains his personal opinion.
