‘Medjugorje’ representation at the Marian Day of Prayer in Rome next month?

“Blessed are you because you believed!”

The Marian Day of Prayer to take place in St Peter’s Square, Rome on Saturday, October 12, will see present various Marian groups for the purpose of expressing how the Virgin Mary, the Mother of God, is the icon of faith for every believer and that in her trusting obedience to the will of the Father was able to work genuine wonders.

Following their audience with Pope Francis, it is expected that representives from Medjugorje, including Franciscan priests of the parish, will then participate in the Marian Day of Prayer event and so be a very public witness to the genuine wonders of conversion experienced by millions of pilgrims at Medjugorje.

Will some of these representatives include any of the six Medjugorje visionaries? That remains to be seen.

The theme adopted for the Marian Day of Prayer is the beatitude of faith, “Blessed are you because you believed” – words spoken by Elizabeth to Mary on the Blessed Mother’s visitation.

These words were also used by Pope Benedict XVI when he concluded his homily at the beatification of Pope John Paul II on May 2, 2011. He said: “Blessed are you, beloved Pope John Paul II, because you believed!”

Pope John Paul II also believed in the Medjugorje ‘visitation’ of Our Lady. The date for his canonization is due to be announced by the Vatican press office on Monday next week, October 1.
