Pray for peace and witness it...
Dear children! Today I call you all to pray for peace and to witness it in your families so that peace may become the highest treasure on this peaceless earth. I am your Queen of Peace and your mother. I desire to lead you on the way of peace, which comes only from God. Therefore, pray, pray, pray. Thank you for having responded to my call. April 25, 2009
Commentary on Our Lady’s message by Fr Danko Perutina OFM
• In her message of 25 April 2009 Our Lady calls us to pray for peace and to witness it at the same time, first in our families and then in the whole world. It is a fact that our time is marked with peacelessness in its many various forms. Having that in mind, we must not remain indifferent, but must make every effort to create peace.
The Church, which has been announcing the Joyful News since its very beginning, has been called to announce and always realise peace. In his message written for the occasion of the World Day for Peace, Pope John Paul II, of blessed memory, says: “We do not claim to find in the Gospel text ready-made formulae for making today this or that advance towards peace. But on every page of the Gospel and of the history of the Church we find a spirit, that of brotherly love, powerfully teaching peace.”
We Christians are called to announce and witness peace with our own lives. Establishing peace is not a question of choice, it is an obligation. Peace is never established once and for all, but needs to be created all the time because the deepest longing of man's heart is actually for peace. In his book Fast with the Heart the departed Fr Slavko Barbaric writes about peace:
“How often we lose peace because we are arrogant, selfish, envious, jealous, avaricious and consumed by power and honour. Experience confirms that through fasting and prayer evil, arrogance and selfishness are overcome; the heart is opened and love and humility, generosity and goodness grow. Thus, true conditions for peace are realised. Whoever has peace because he loves and forgives also remains spiritually and physically healthy. He remains capable of shaping his own life in a manner worthy of man, who is the most exalted of God’s creatures. Through fasting and prayer, human needs are also diminished and brought to proportion. Also by this, conditions for peace along with a proper relationship with others and material things are being created. In everything we do, whether good or bad, we seek peace. When a person loves, looks for and experiences peace, or even when he stays sober or fights against addiction, he seeks peace. When he becomes drunk, he also seeks peace. When he fights for his life and the lives of those he loves, he realises peace.”
The Queen of Peace wants to lead us to true peace, which is her Son and our Lord Jesus Christ, who is the true king of peace. Prayer is the safe path leading to Jesus and Heaven.
In her last message she urges us three times to pray for peace as prayer is the only right way. Let us respond with all our heart and soul to the call of Our Mother Mary, the Queen of Peace, and she will lead us to the true peace, the love of God, closeness and joy.

...so that faith may grow
The Eunuch turned to Philip and said, “Tell me, is the prophet referring to himself or someone else?” Starting, therefore, with this text of scripture Philip proceeded to explain the Good News of Jesus to him. Further along the road they came to some water, and the eunuch said: “Look, there is some water here; is there anything to stop me being baptised?” He ordered the chariot to stop, then Philip and the eunuch both went down to the water and Philip baptised him. Acts 8 : 26-40...be open to God’s will, so that in you and through you, faith may grow in the people you meet in your everyday life.

A Lamb led to slaughter
Like a sheep that is led to the slaughter-house,like a lamb that is dumb in front of its shearers,
like these he never opens his mouth.
He has been humiliated and has no-one to defend him.
Who will ever talk about his descendants,
since his life has been cut short!
Act 8 : 26-40
Dear children, I implore you, especially at this Lenten time, to respond to God’s goodness because he chose you and sent me among you. Be purified of sins and in Jesus, my Son, recognise the sacrifice of atonement for the sins of the entire world. May he be the meaning of your life. May your life become service to the Divine Love of my Son.
Thank you my children.

Trust in Providence
Read each Thursday the Gospel of Matthew, where it is said: “No one can serve two masters... You cannot serve God and money... August 5, 1986That is why I am telling you not to worry about your life and what you are to eat, nor about your body and how you are to clothe it. Surely life means more than food, and the body more than clothing! Look at the birds in the sky. They do not sow or reap or gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth more than they are? Matthew 6 : 25-27

Easter... feast of the Running Feet
• by Sr Elvira Petrozzi, founder of the Cenacolo Community.
The Risen Jesus is the heart of the world. He gives life to the whole Universe and He is the ray of light that shines from the empty tomb on all humanity – yesterday, today and always. The Resurrection of Jesus is a special and unique event. It is the announcement of the victory of life over death, of love over sin. Easter is the feast of the Running Feet. Everyone arrives at the tomb tired, sad and disappointed... and they leave running! The Risen Christ gives us the dynamic enthusiasm to announce the victory.Who are those Apostles today, those Peters and Johns who leave and go into the world? Who are the Magdalenes, forgiven and reconciled with God, who announce to everyone that Jesus is alive? They are us, the baptised Christians! We are the people of God who should bring the joy of Salvation to everyone. With Baptism and the other Sacraments, the world of our heart, our feelings and our human story becomes cleansed and renovated; from simple creatures we become children of God! It is an exceptional event; heaven comes down to earth to work something extraordinary in our hearts that we cannot keep to ourselves. We have to speak about it.
Too many people do not know yet that there is a Saviour who came in our midst to bring us the mercy and the love of God. The world is still in the dark, troubled, full of fear, because we Christians are living for other things. We are not aware any more of the precious treasure that we have in our hands; we speak about trivialities and we give too much importance to useless things; too many worries fill our minds because we are not fulfiling our true mission on earth; our selfishness makes us sad and our fears increase. Maybe even on Easter morning our first though will be: “Did you make the coffee? Is breakfast ready? I have such a headache this morning...” Absurdities!
We who have a vocation, in which there is close rapport with God, get stuck in the mud of the world’s selfishness. Called to the high peaks of a proclamation that liberates, we let ourselves be chained by the superficials of life. Christ is risen! He is truly risen! This is the daily experience that my eyes are contemplating, my hands are touching and my ears are hearing; the dead are raised, prisoner are freed and the blind see. The power of His Resurrection unchains us.
There are a thousand opportunities a day to give witness and to manifest what the Lord has done for us: a smile, an act of forgiveness, a hug, a service or job done with and for love. Mary Magdalene and the Apostles are our models, our gift this Easter to begin to run again, to bring everyone the good news of the Easter morning. Death does not have the last word; it was defeated by the life of Christ!
“How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who announce peace!” These are your feet, my feet, our feet... and so the world will experience the Resurrection! Happy Easter!

Feast of the Mother of Good Counsel
Good counsel is one of the seven gifts bestowed when we are confirmed by the Holy Spirit. The image above, also known as the Mother of Tenderness, is most often associated with Our Lady of Good Counsel. It can be traced back to the year 1467 to Genazzano, Italy, a small town thirty miles southeast of Rome. It is presently located in a side chapel, built in the early 1600’s, in the church of Our Lady of Good Counsel, from which the image derives its name.• For the past 27 years, Our Lady Queen of Peace, has been counseling pilgrims with her messages from Medjugorje, reminding us of her motherly tenderness, and guiding souls to the answer to all difficulties in life, her Son, Jesus. She is present to help and guide each of us through our trials and in deciding for God.
With joy I wish to guide you and show you the joy into which I desire to bring each one of you. Therefore, dear children, pray and surrender completely to me. part message, December 11, 1986
Dear children! Today again I am calling you to prayer to complete surrender to God. You know that I love you and am coming here out of love so I could show you the path to peace and salvation for your souls. I want you to obey me and not permit Satan to seduce you. part message, February 25, 1988
Dear children! Today in a special way I bring the little Jesus to you, that He may bless you with His blessing of peace and love. Dear children, do not forget that this is a grace which many people neither understand nor accept. Therefore, you who have said that you are mine, and seek my help, give all of yourself. part message, December 25, 1991
Pray, dear children, and have more trust in me because I am here in order to help you and to guide you on a new path toward a new life. Therefore, dear little children, listen and live what I tell you because it is important for you when I shall not be with you any longer that you remember my words and all that I told you. I call you to begin to change your life from the beginning and that you decide for conversion not with words but with your life. part message, October 25, 1992

April 25, 2009Salt is a good thing, but if salt becomes insipid, how can you season it again? Have salt in yourselves and be at peace with one another. Mark 9 : 50

And Jesus said to them, “Go out to the whole world; proclaim the Good News to all creation.” Mark 16 : 16Dear Children! Today I invite all of you who have heard my message of peace to realise it with seriousness and with love in your life. There are many who think that they are doing a lot by talking about the messages, but do not live them. Dear children, I invite you to life and to change all the negative in you, so that it all turns into the positive and life. Dear children, I am with you and I desire to help each of you to live and by living, to witness the Good News. I am here, dear children, to help you and to lead you to heaven, and in heaven is the joy through which you can already live heaven now. Thank you for having responded to my call! May 25, 1991

Sent by God...
He who comes from heaven bears witness to the things he has seen and heard, even though his testimony is not accepted; though all who do accept his testimony are attesting the truthfulness of God, since he whom God has sent speaks God’s own words. John 3 : 32-36Dear children! God sent me among you out of love that I may lead you towards the way of salvation. Many of you opened your hearts and accepted my messages, but many have become lost on this way and have never come to know the God of love with the fullness of heart. Therefore, I call you to be love and light where there is darkness and sin. I am with you and bless you all. Thank you for having responded to my call. October 25, 2007

Witness with your life...
• The Word of God can never be imprisoned...The high priest intervened with all his supporters from the party of the Sadducees. Prompted by jealousy, they arrested the apostles and had them put in the common jail. But at night the angel of the Lord opened the prison gates and said as he led them out, “Go and stand in the Temple, and tell the people all about this new Life.” They did as they were told, they went into the Temple at dawn and began to preach. Acts 5 : 17-21
Dear children! Also today I call you to be carriers of the Gospel in your families. Do not forget, little children, to read Sacred Scripture. Put it in a visible place and witness with your life that you believe and live the Word of God. I am close to you with my love and intercede before my Son for each of you. Thank you for having responded to my call. January 25, 2006

United in ‘encouragement’
The whole group of believers were united, heart and soul... There was a Levite of Cypriot origin called Joseph whom the apostles surnamed Barnabas (which means ‘son of encouragement’). Acts 4 32, 36
Dear children! I call you today and encourage you to prayer for peace. Especially today I call you, carrying the newborn Jesus in my arms for you, to unite with Him through prayer and to become a sign to this peaceless world. Encourage each other, little children, to prayer and love. May your faith be an encouragement to others to believe and to love more. I bless you all and call you to be closer to my heart and to the heart of little Jesus. Thank you for having responded to my call. December 25, 2001

Apparition video
• Apparition of Our Lady to Mirjana on April 2, 2009
Dear children, God’s love is in my words. My children, that is the love which desires to turn you to justice and truth. That is the love which desires to save you from delusion. And what about you, my children? Your hearts remain closed; they are hard and do not respond to my calls. They are insincere. With a motherly love I am praying for you, because I desire for all of you to resurrect in my Son. Thank you. April 2, 2009
Mercy...
I shall say to a people that was not mine, “You are my people”, and to a nation I have never loved, “I love you”. Instead of being told, “You are no people of mine”, they will now be called the sons of the living God. Romans 9 25-26Dear children! With a motherly heart, today I desire to remind you of, namely, to draw your attention to, God’s immeasurable love and the patience which ensues from it. Your Father is sending me and is waiting. He is waiting for your open hearts to be ready for his works. He is waiting for your hearts to be united in Christian love and mercy in the spirit of my Son. Do not lose time, children, because you are not its masters. Thank you.
February 2, 2009
Dear children! Today I call you to love and mercy. Give love to each other as your Father gives it to you. Be merciful – with the heart. Do good works, not permitting them to wait for you too long. Every mercy that comes from the heart brings you closer to my Son. March 18, 2001
Dear children! Today I come to you with a motherly desire for you to give me your hearts. My children, do this with complete trust and without fear. In your hearts, I will put my Son and his mercy. Then, my children, you will look at the world around you with different eyes. You will see your neighbour. You will feel his pain and suffering. You will not turn your head away from those who suffer, because my Son turns his head away from those who do so. Children, do not hesitate.

MERCY IN ACTION
• In the very early days of the apparitions at Medjugorje, a remarkable event happened in St James’ church where the people of the parish had gathered to pray. Earlier in the day, Our Lady had instructed the visionaries not to just “recite” the rosary but to think about it in their hearts, and to first of all forgive their neighbours. This “message” was brought to Fr Jozo who in turn conveyed Our Lady’s words to the congregation.
At that time, many families in the Medjugorje parish were in dispute and on bad terms with each other, and some of the disagreements stretched back to previous generations for all sorts of reasons.
After Fr Jozo had repeated Our Lady’s words he remained in silence and so did the congregation for quite some time. He refused to continue with the prayer programme and there was tension in the air as time went on and the silence continued.
Then suddenly, a man stood up in tears and shouted, “I forgive my neighbour” As he said this he walked down the aisle and embraced the person. This grace of mercy then suddenly spread quickly throughout the gathering as others held out their hands and embraced with forgiveness in their hearts. Fr Jozo to later stated: “This was the moment of conversion for the entire parish.”
In a single day the entire parish had suddenly and completely returned to God. According to one eyewitness, “during the day that followed, neighbours who were on bad terms and had not spoken for years, approached each other in the fields, shook hands, made peace and all five hamlets in the parish were united as never before.”
Medjugorje is a fountain of God’s Divine Mercy, witnessed each day through the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Through God’s Love we receive God’s Mercy and God’s Peace.
Dear children, I have chosen this parish in a special way and I wish to lead it. I am guarding it with love and I want everyone to be mine... part message, March 1, 1984

Go out and proclaim...
“We cannot promise to stop proclaiming what we have seen and heard.” The court repeated the warnings and then released them; they could not think of any way to punish them, since all the people were giving glory to God for what had happened. Acts : 4 : 20-21
Lastly, Jesus showed himself to the Eleven themselves while they were at table. He reproached then for their incredulity and obstinacy, because they had refused to believe those who had seen him after he had risen. And he said to them, “Go out to the whole world; proclaim the Good News to all creation.”

With great joy...
Look at my hands and feet; yes, it is I indeed. Touch me and see for yourselves; a ghost has no flesh and bones as you can see I have. And as he said this he showed them his hands and feet. Their joy was so great that they still could not believe it, and they stood there dumbfounded... Luke 24 : 41Dear children! Also today, with great joy in my heart, I call you to conversion. Little children, do not forget that you are all important in this great plan, which God leads through Medjugorje. God desires to convert the entire world and to call it to salvation and to the way towards Himself, who is the beginning and the end of every being. In a special way, little children, from the depth of my heart, I call you all to open yourselves to this great grace that God gives you through my presence here. I desire to thank each of you for the sacrifices and prayers. I am with you and I bless you all. Thank you for having responded to my call. June 25, 2007

The women on Calvary...
There were some women watching from a distance. Among them were Mary of Magdala, Mary who was the mother of James the younger and Joset, and Salome. These used to follow him and look after him when he was in Galilee. And there were many other women there who had come up to Jerusalem with him. Mark 15 : 40-41

The one they have pierced...
When they came to Jesus they found that he was already dead, and so instead of breaking his legs one of the soldiers pierced his side with a lance; and immediately there came out blood and water. This is the evidence of one who saw it – trustworthy evidence, and he knows he speaks the truth – and he gives it so that you may believe as well. Because all this happened to fulfil the words of scripture: Not one bone of his will be broken, and again in another place scripture says: They will look on the one whom they have pierced. John 18
This is you mother...
Seeing his mother and the disciple he loved standing near her, Jesus said to his mother, “Woman, this is your son.” Then to the disciple he said, “This is your mother. And from that moment the disciple made a place for her in his home.John 19 : 25-27

Pray, pray, pray...
Leaving them there, he went away again and prayed for the third time, repeating the same words. Matthew 26 : 44Dear children! Sympathize with me! Pray, pray, pray! April 19, 1984
Washing with blood...
Jesus got up from table, removed his outer garment and, taking a towel, wrapped it round his waist; he then poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples’ feet and to wipe them with the towel he was wearing. He came to Simon Peter, who said to him, “Lord, are you going to wash my feet?” Jesus answered, “At the moment you do not know what I am doing, but later you will understand.” “Never!” said Peter, “You shall never wash my feet.” Jesus replied, “If I do not wash you, you can have nothing in common with me.” John 13 : 4-8• Not only water, but blood also flowed from the side of Jesus after the soldier pierced him with his sword. Jesus didn't only speak, he didn't just leave us with words, He surrendered himself. He washes us with the sacred power of his blood, that is to say, with his surrender 'until the end,' until the cross... His word is something more than simple speaking; it is flesh and blood ‘for the life of the world.’ In the holy sacraments, the Lord kneels down again before our feet and he purifies us. Let us ask him that we become ever more penetrated by the sacred washing of his love and in this way remain truly purified.

What is important...
The visionaries tell us that Our Lady has either already or has yet to entrust each of them with ten secrets, but more than that they cannot tells us. None of us know what these secrets contain but it is very clear to us that what she has entrusted to the visionaries in secrecy is not important, whereas what is important is what she has already told us very openly.
If we decide to listen to her, then we will be able to avoid many destructive situations in our lives, in our families, in our communities, in our Church and in the world.
It is her wish that we, guided by her, fight against sins and the fruits of evil in our lives so that we can at the same time continue to grow on the path to God.

Mary’s mission...
Mary’s mission is to lead people to God; to lead people to conversion; to lead people to prayer. “Pray, pray, pray” is one of her constant calls. On November 25, 2008, her message was: “Dear children, I call you to pray, pray, pray, until prayer becomes life for you.”
In her message of December 25, 2005, Mary said: “Today, in my arms, I bring you the Child Jesus, the King of Peace, to bless you with his peace. Little children, in a special way today I call you to be carriers of peace in this peaceless world. Thank you for having responded to my call.” reminding us of the importance of saying ‘thank you’.
How often do we forget to say ‘thank you’ to God; to each other; thank you for the call to be people of prayer, people of peace?
When we realise how unworthy we are of God’s gifts and graciousness to us, not in spite of our sinfulness, but with all our ‘baggage’, then one’s motivating force can only be one of thanksgiving.
As a cynic who has been ‘converted’ I suggest that unless one has ‘tasted’ what I would call the ‘Medjugorje experience’, one should not be so ready to criticise and write it off. Why are people so ready to condemn? Why are people so fearful and dismissive? That is their privilege. But why not taste and see? To visit Medjugorje with an open mind is to experience God at work in his people, sending his love and healing through the Virgin Mary.
Mary calls us to conversion, prayer and love. Mary enables people to be healed in the Sacrament of Reconciliation and Healing. As a priest who has spent many hours celebrating the Sacrament with people from all walks of life, people young and old, I can affirm that God is
doing great things in people’s lives, and what is even more wonderful, he has as a result done great things in my own life. I have had my priesthood affirmed and I have been healed of a great burden.
No one should criticise or deny this place of pilgrimage and renewal. No one should object to this place of prayer and peace. God is truly at work. How envious satan must be to see so many people, young and old, in prayer, penance and devotion, finding peace, purpose, and a God of love and compassion. Medjugorje is a place of hope and a new beginning.
Our Lady invites us to pray, pray, pray. I pray before God to give you the gift of faith. Only in faith will you discover the gift of life that God has given you!
May I ask all people to rejoice and to thank God for the wonderful gifts that he gives each day to his people through the Medjugorje experience, through Mary our Mother, whose mission is one of sheer love, leading us to God. Alleluia!

Palm Sunday

Rejoice heart and soul, daughter of Zion!
Shout with gladness, daughter of Jerusalem!
See now, your king comes to you;
he is victorious, he is triumphant,
humble and riding on a donkey,
on a colt, the foal of a donkey.
He will banish chariots from Ephraim
and horses from Jerusalem;
the bow of war will be banished.
He will proclaim peace for the nations.
His empire shall stretch from sea to sea,
from the river to the ends of the earth.

Crunch bites in Medjugorje
It seems that not even Medjugorje is immune to the global recession this year. Statistics published by the Medjugorje information office show a 46% reduction in the number of consecrated hosts distributed for the month of March. In January, the fall was only 2% on the previous year, and 13% in February.
Last year’s March figure of 99,000 was particularly high because of Easter numbers. This March the number of distributed hosts is 53,000 and the Easter feast is celebrated in April.
But indications of the turn-down showed last year when the total number of distributed hosts fell by 15%.
Last year was only the second time in the past 17 years that the communion figures had reversed on the previous year.
The fall-off in pilgrims will have a big impact on the local economy as well as affecting tour operators and travel agents. Accomodation has always been in excess of pilgrim numbers, except on the anniversary of the apparitions and special feast days. But despite this, building work has continued unabated and the explosion of appartment construction has added further pressure to local people who host pilgrims for their living.
Whatever the economic climate, this does not prevent the continuation of conversions. Our Lady is still present. Restoration and reconciliation of souls continue. The graces are still there and good fruits are visible and still grow. The recession does not affect God’s generosity, only our reluctance to accept the gifts the Holy Spirit and Our Blessed Mother wish to bestow.
For those who have been privileged to visit Medjugorje then perhaps now is the time to consider how to bring Medjugorje to those who are unable to travel there, for whatever reason.
When I once asked the Medjugorje visionary Marija Pavlovic-Lunetti how this could be achieved, she answered, “Be an example, a good example.”

Message gven to Mirjana, April 2
Dear children, God’s love is in my words. My children, that is the love which desires to turn you to justice and truth. That is the love which desires to save you from delusion. And what about you, my children? Your hearts remain closed; they are hard and do not respond to my calls. They are insincere. With a motherly love I am praying for you, because I desire for all of you to resurrect in my Son. Thank you. April 2, 2009You men, why shut your hearts so long, loving delusions, chasing after lies. Psalm 4 : 2
As your word unfolds, it gives light and the simple understand.
Psalm 119 : 130
• Mirjana received today’s apparition at her home and not at the Blue Cross as earlier reported.
GOD’S LOVE IS IN MY WORDS...
My son, pay attention to my words,
listen carefully to the words I say,
do not let them out of your sight,
keep them deep in your heart.
They are life to those who grasp them,
health for the entire body.
More than all else, keep watch over your heart,
since here are the wellsprings of life.
Turn your back on the mouth that misleads,
keep your distance from lips that deceive.
Let your eyes be fixed ahead,
your gaze straight before you.
Let the path you tread be level
and all your ways made firm.
Turn neither to right nor to left,
keep your foot clear of evil.
Proverbs 4 : 20-27
